*The CON - VideoCON *
*Now, I am completely convinced why the company chose such an appropriate name for itself, VIDEOCON , it certainly is a CON !*
I will keep this short, precise and specific. I bought a 32 inches VIDEOCON LCD TV from E-ZONE chennai in December 2008, paying 25, 000 rupees as it was a good bargain. It was somthing a middle class family like ours, could dream. To own a LCD TV ! My family was excited when the TV arrived. It was a nice TV. Audio/Video = 10/10. In 2 months, the sound stopped coming. I called the customer care and they gave me a reference number for my complaint.
The service engineer arrived after 3 days ! After inspection, he decided that the board had gone ( I use a stabiliser, meant for LCD TV and Home Cinema ). It took them over 2 weeks to replace the board. So that was almost 15 days of not watching the TV. Everything was fine for another 2 months when the same problem occured. I lodged a complaint and was given a reference number. The same service engineer arrived, same problem diagnosed. Same disappearence for 2 weeks ! I had to call Videocon again, another complaint registered.
This time, the service engineer cancelled the service request without even coming to my house, here I was waiting for him ! After a week, I had to call again and all that they did was give me another reference number after lodging my concern. All these while I was waiting with patience and let them take their course of time. This time I demanded to speak to a senior manager for explanation. I was given the number of a service manager in Chennai. I spoke to the SM and he was a pleasant person, promised immediate action.
The same service engineer came the next day and took my old board saying he would come back with a a new one, after a week ! Well, after 10 days he came with an incompatible board ! So he put a new service request asking for the Tv to be taken to their service centre for repair and observation. 10 days is what it took them to repair and observe, **kindly note that I had no TV all these days** , when I pleaded with videocon that my family was suffering, only then they arranged a smaller standby TV. They still took their own sweet time to fix my TV which was taken away.
Finaly my TV arrived, I was hoping that all would be fine. guess what , The TV was not working and the guys who came to install it where so embarassed that they apologised and took it back. After my persistent calls ( explaining my difficulty etc ) the service manager agreed to put in a requesnt for a replacement TV. Its been 2 weeks now since they put in a request and still no replacement TV. Everytime I call their office, they always say another week sir...we will call you in 10 minutes to update you etc. It never comes !! **My concerns , summarised** in 6 months of ownership, TV not worked for 3 months no response to service request, service engineer cancelled request without even visiting no follow up from videocon side, I had to call them often to remind them about everything very slow repair works no courtesy TV, they offered it only when I was literally in tears videocon has taken the pleasure out of our lives, TV was our only source of entertainment **So - STAY AWAY from videocon for 2 reasons** 1. Very inferior quality products 2. Very poor customer service
*Ps. I requested several times that senior managers contact me, NO was their reply
