The frst thing you will notice about the V1750 is its original, very premium look. The whole body is finished in fingerprint-resistant matte black plastic and the screen is very imposing compared to its competitors. LG GD510 and Cookies displays looked flimsy compared to its massive display. Brightness is also outstanding and readability is excellent even under bright sunlight.
The whole body is very sturdy and strong. I have subjected it to quite a few major drops within these 4 months of usage, and it has hardly suffered anything. The device looks very elegant in hands, and from a distance, resembles high-end phones from HTC.
Software & Features:
The highlight about the V1750 is the dual SIM support - Now you dont have to resort to cheap, plastic Chinese phones to get dual SIM+ dual standby support. It comes with pre-installed widgets which slide into a tray, very much like in Samsung phones. There are 3 configurable home screens, but you can only use pre-installed widgets, you cant use your own. The UI is finger-usable with big fonts and kinetic scrolling in lists.
Features are a bit outdated looking at todays standards. Java is supported, but only partially(Opera Mini 5 works great, but many games dont work). EDGE is present for high speed browsing, which is a big plus. I can connect it to my lappy for browsing as well. Smart Dialing present while dialing a number, and so are many such nitty-gritty goodies. However, call volume seemed a bit feeble and its a bit difficult to hear your callers in the middle of traffic.
Multimedia:
Music player is good with manually configurable equalizer, but its aesthetically boring. No visualizations or album art. The music volume over earphones is also very low.
Image viewer is great, supports slideshows, finger-swiping and auto-slideshows.
Video playback is pathetic. It supports only MP4 and 3GP files with 320x240 resolution - it completely spoils the experience of watching a video on the huge screen.
Camera:
3.2 megapixel camera takes photos of great quality with amazing colors. Indoor photos also come out very well. Noise-processing is evident and it softens the photos a bit. LED flash, white balance etc are available. Video recording is ignoble.
Price and competition:
Bit expensive compared to the competition - the Nokia 5233 priced at Rs.6900 gives lot better features(software-wise) but is very plastic & flimsy. The Corbys are also too plastic and have much smaller screens and dont appeal to me. The LG Cookie Pep(GD510) is the only phone which can be called a worthy competitor. The advantages of the V1750 over LG Pep: Bigger and better screen, dual sim support.
