The Vidyarthi Bhawan is by far the oldest restaurant in Basavangundi. Even my parents used to go there during their college days. My father used to always talk about how he used to hang out there with his friends and gorge on the famous Masala Dosa of Vidhyarti Bhawan.
Hence, when I got the opportunity I came here with my brother. It is a small cozy restaurant. The staff here is cordial and means business but that doesn’t mean they are rude. They know the menu at the back of their hand and when you ask them to recommend something they immediately say Masala Dosa.
I was going to try the Masala Dosa anyway since my father raves about it and we also called for some Upma. The food arrived in less than five minutes. My father was right the Masala Dosa here is truly delicious. I don’t know what they put in here. It looks pretty simple but tastes awesome. The Upma wasn’t bad either. We finished off with some filter coffee which was perfect.
I loved the food here but my only suggestion would be to renovate the place if they can. It needs a makeover, desperately.
