Beware of Aria by Providian Bank!

I applied for and received the Aria platinum Visa card almost a year ago, and I’m regretting every minute of it. When they called me to verify my information, I was told by the representative that my balance transfer APR would be at 12.9%. When I heard the numbers, I jumped on it. Well, after the 3 month of no interest, the interest rate turned out to be 22% on the Aria card. The balance I transferred to the Aria from another card was at 21%, APR, which left me asking Aria, ’’How am I saving money?’’

The told me to send them a copy of my agreement with the other credit card Company, and that they would beat that interest rate by .01%

Well, I’ve sent them copies of my bill repeatedly, and everytime I get the same response and that is ’’We haven’t received it yet, please send another copy’’ First of all, I want to know where the promise of 12.9 APR for balance transfers went? I also want to know why I can send them a copy of my other credit cards APR agreement in the same envelope as the payment, yet they receive the check, but not the copy of the agreement?

Either the document crawls out of the envelope while en route to their office, or someone isn’t reporting it. Either way, I’m stuck.

The way they got me was they sent me balance transfer/ cash advance checks, ’’before’’ they sent me the card and the agreement. Even with that it said that my interest rate would be between 12.9 to 22.% the person told me on the phone that I would get the 12.9%

Then there’s ’’over the limit’’ fees. I was charged 29 dollars because I was a little over a dollar over the limit. Thankfully I kept calling until I found one nice rep that took the charges off my bill. The other reps claimed they’d take the charges off, but wouldn’t do it.

I do NOT recommend this card to anyone who is looking to save money on interest charges, unless you’re paying more that 22% to begin with, because odds are, that is what you’ll be paying.
