This is a good ad, but many questions floated in my mind, I think you might solve them
The Story:
Richard Gere is wandering thru streets of Jaipur (or any Rajasthan city) with a guide who tells it’s lucky to free a bird from a cage. A little girl sees her brother leaving for a long journey and rushes towards the bird store, and bumps into Richard Gere but goes forward to the bird store. The girl asks the bird seller to give five birds, but the only one is affordable (Birds are really costly, apparently!). So she takes one bird to her brother to wish luck, Richard Gere sees this and hands his visa card to the bird seller. Later as the one girl frees the bird, thousands of birds are freed behind her (thanks 2 the courtesy of Richard Gere)
The first time I saw this commercial, I was torn between anxiety and humor, what did the ad really wanted to convey?
- Visa card can be used in bird selling shops.
Or
- We should help a little girl when she needs a bird.
Or
- Birds are really lucky.
The first point cannot be true because many of the small shops don’t accept credit cards. Many of the big establishments don’t accept credit cards…leave alone a bird seller. Does Visa really want us to believe that their card can be used at any tapari (shop) The second & third point could be true!!!!
The commercial feels good to watch but does not point a moral. The only thing liked was Richard Gere looks really good (I meant cute ;-)
