VIVA LA VIDA

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Coldplay, released in June 2008.

Iam sharing the thoughts about the song "viva la vida" from the album.

Iam sharing my views on only the song "viva la vida" as it is the most popular and beautiful song of the album

# It reminds me of my own highs and lows of my own life.

# Kings and paupers are the same.

# The mighty fall hard and the smallest can only die or move upward.

# Emotional composition and lyrics are the highlights of this poem

# The song is inspired by the some war as it has many images such as walls, castle, pillars, revolutionaries etc.

# The song also says about Jesus.

# This is revealed from the lines "Seas would rise when I gave the word", "I know Saint Peter won’t call my name".

# The music is composed in such a way that it have a warfield like feel.

# The song have many common sounds from a war field including drums and trumphets.

# Song is highly inspiring and make the listener think to achieve more.

LYRICS

I used to rule the world

Seas would rise when I gave the word

Now in the morning I sweep alone

Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice

Feel the fear in my enemy’s eyes

Listen as the crowd would sing:

"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key

Next the walls were closed on me

And I discovered that my castles stand

Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing

Roman Cavalry choirs are singing

Be my mirror my sword and shield

My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can’t explain

Once you go there was never, never an honest word

That was when I ruled the world

It was the wicked and wild wind

Blew down the doors to let me in.

Shattered windows and the sound of drums

People couldn’t believe what I’d become

Revolutionaries wait

For my head on a silver plate

Just a puppet on a lonely string

Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing

Roman Cavalry choirs are singing

Be my mirror my sword and shield

My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can’t explain

I know Saint Peter won’t call my name

Never an honest word

But that was when I ruled the world

ooooo ooooo ooooo oooooo ooooo

(repeat with chorus)

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing

Roman Cavalry choirs are singing

Be my mirror my sword and shield

My missionaries in a foreign field

For some reason I can’t explain

I know Saint Peter won’t call my name

Never an honest word

But that was when I ruled the world

Oooooh Oooooh Oooooh
