What in the world can be worse than manufactured Pop stars? A good band has to grow, has to evolve over many years, for their music to have any soul. You just CANT throw a random bunch of moderately talented (and Im being kind here...) women together, give them massive PR back-up, use television and newspapers and the Internet to build hype, and expect good music to come of it. No, you cant do that. Its NOT done. What comes of this, is pure TRASH.
Viva are the biggest example of how the whole can sometimes be LESS - much, much LESS - than the sum of its parts. Loads of people who are really good at what they do - Javed Akhtar, Sandeep Chowta, Subha Mudgal, and many others - were roped in, to give the best of everything to Viva. The best dress-designer, the best lyricist, the best music composer, the best in grooming, dance, fitness, voice-modulation - you name it, and Viva had it. And yet, the result is PATHETIC! The group sounds completely plastic, totally artificial. They look bad, and sound worse.
This Pop group (hah!) seems to be the biggest mistake Channel V, Indiatimes, and other Viva-promoters have ever made in their collective corporate lives. This should be a lesson to them - music can NOT be a marketing exercise, it HAS to come from inside, it HAS to have heart, it HAS to have soul. Viva is a marketing brochure for some misguided corporates, they are a sales pamphlet, they are... CRAP! The music is RUBBISH, the lyrics are all cliched, the girls cant carry the clothes theyre given, and the whole thing is totally TRASH! Bloody HORRIBLE! Whatve they done?!?! Each and everyone who is involved with the Viva effort (that should actually be non-effort) in any way, should be ASHAMED of their sorry selves!
Do yourself a favour - switch off your blessed TVs whenever they show Viva - youll save yourself from getting a massive headache.
