Not The Best Phone In Its Segment

Vivo Y55s retails for rs 12, 490 which put it in a highly competitive segment. We get some best phone like Redmi Note 4, Honor 6x, Moto G4 plus in this price band. In terms of specification vivo v55s seems to be at disadvantage compared to these three.

Design and build: y55s has a simple candybar design with 2.5D curved glass on front and soft gold finish for back. It looks like the I Phone. Slim at 7.5 mm and weighted 147.9 gms. It is easy to grip due to small size. There is a dedicated microSD card slot on the top near headphone socket. The phone support dual sim

The 5.2 inch HD display has a sufficiently high pixel density so jaggedness around icons and text is’nt very visible. Color reproduction is good and I didn’t find and major issue with viewing angles and sunlight legibility.

Capacitive buttons at the bottom but there is no LED notification light and no backlit but one can use the rear LED flash for notification. Also this device missing a fingerprint sensor which is quite dissapointing considering other phone of this price segment.

Specification and features:

Under the hood, vivo y55s have a quad core qualcomm snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz. There’s 3gb of ram and 16gb of storage which can be expanded upto 256 gb using microSD card. This phone equipped with bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, 4g with VoLTE support, usb otg, fm radio and gps. In addition of standard set of sensor you get a virtual gyroscope sensor with it

On software front vivo y55s comes with anroid 6.0 based of FunTouch OS 3.0

Perfomance:

General UI perfomance is good and I didn’t find any major issue or lags during everyday usage. The phone handle multitasking well but the entry level SoC isn’t a good choice for heavier apps or games. The phone handled 1080p or even high bit rate video easily but the volume and clarity is not very good. Sound quality is only sufficient enough for alert

Camera:

The rear camera has a 13 megapixel sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. It manage decent landscape and macros in daylight condition altough finer details look a bit fuzzy when you zoom in. And the edge around close up subject lack sharpness, colors also a bit muted unless you turned on HDR. Autofocus is fairly quick but lack of PDAF. There is a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture which capture good selfies

Bettery: Vivo v55s have a 2, 730 mAh bettery which can last upto 10/11 hours on continuous video playback which is quite good.

Conclusion:

Vivo v55s is a decent phone but simply isn’t strong enough to hold its own against its current competetion. Redmi note 4, Honor 6x , Moto G4 plus are much better option that serve you better
