How much benefit they are getting
After the new Trai regulation,
a STD call charge can be broken up into three components -
access deficit charge (now 1.5 paise),
mobile termination charge (30 paise),
career charge (65 paise). All this adds upto about 97 paise.
So, in effect 3 paise is what remains as an operator’s profit in a Re 1 per minute call.
Plus the monthly charges like 250 Pm in hutch is extra benefit for them.
Larger operators like Airtel, Reliance and BSNL who carry calls on own network, bypassing any carriage charge, can offer less than we think
their cost will be 30 paise + 1.5 paise = 31.5 paise for a call between anywhere in india.
so if they offer 35 paise also will give a profit of 3.5 paise per call.
In post paid
Airtel, MTNL, BSNL and Idea are offering Re 1 flat rate on STD calls to anywhere in India at a monthly rental of Rs 299.
Reliance post-paid subscribers have to pay Rs 499 to avail of India One rates.
Hutch’s post paid plan offers customers Re 1 rates at a monthly fee of Rs 250 over and above the existing monthly rental.
Tata Teleservices post-paid users have to pay a monthly rental of Rs 299 for the Re 1 plan
In Pre paid
Hutch has the most aggressive pre-paid plan with an offer of Re 1 rates to pre-paid customers at a deduction of Rs 250 from the balance talktime
Airtel and Idea deducts Rs 440
and
BSNL/MTNL’ deducts Rs 340 for service charge/rental).
As of now the best STD offer is by hutch.
Rs 1 for any mobile with 250 monthly charge
Rs 1 for H to H with 25 Rs monthly charge.
if it is on same network then best offer is by reliance.
Rs 1 for others

ohh I forgot about spice they recently announced Spice Uth Prepaid 99 Calling India plan
in this recharge for 1102 Rs and you will get 750 talktime for 45 Days.
S to S 30 paise
1 for others.
Which is best Prepaid or Postpaid in Hutch
Hutch always giving good offers to prepaid customers than postpaid customers
my experience
for example in dec they offer the full talktime with 6 month validity for 550 card
in tht I got the talk time of 500 already I had balance of 300 talktime.
just because 6 month validity till date I didn’t pay any amount like monthly rental clip charge etc....
but if I opt for the post paid plan with a monthly rental of 200 in 6 month of time i’ll loose 1200 Rs as rent only.
just because I hav prepaid I spent only 50 Rs for these six months.
All these a month before.
now I am talking more on STD. so I pay 250 Rent for STD and two days once I spend 200 Rs and keep on talking and enjoying this offer happily.
