Hutch Bangalore pros & cons

Hi all, I started using hutch prepaid from February ’03.

When I bought the hutch sim card, Hutch was giving the best deal on value added services. From 9pm-9am, all local calls were charged at Re1 & SMS is free including international SMS.At other times 3 Rs for local calls SMS round the clock. O.K I don’t want to waste your time. I’ll straight away list the Pros & Cons.

Pros:

  1. many value added services like Free SMS 9pm-9am. At Rs.30 per month ’’free’’ unlimited SMS. But Now I think this offer is not available. Family & friends numbers at 60p/min. etc,

  2. SMS goes to all Networks, and international SMS goes to most countries.

Cons:

  1. Very poor network infrastructure leading to network congestion very often. after 9 pm, most of the time I get ’’Network busy error’’.

  2. SMS comes at Rs.30 per month when operators in other telecom circles give it for free.

  3. Roaming is very very costly. I feel cheated. I’ll tell you one incident that happened to me. Last april, I went to Thanjore for attending a friend’s marriage. I enabled Roaming before I started from Bangalore. While on the way, first I got Roaming through Aircel. This laster from Hosur to Dharmapuri. I was charged 25 Rs for that. When I entered Salem, I got Airtel roaming. I was charged 25 more. Later when I went to trichy, I got BPL Roaming & was charged 25 more. The next day morning, I noticed 50 more rupees deducted from my balance. I made only one call & received just 3. all lasted for less that a minute. I was charged 6.50 for incoming & 4.50 for outgoing. So totally I was charged 125+26+4.50= Rs.155.50 all for talking for just 4 minutes.

Cons: network congestion after 9 pm, Roaming very costly
