This is one more example of cheating and fraudulent Vodafone services & bill calculation. This is how these telecom companies are making profits by cheating people and still displaying the tag line of world-class services offered.
I have received a bill amount of Rs. 9522.36 for the bill cycle of (5-Dec-2012 to 4-January-2013).
The main cause of this huge bill amount is usage of GPRS (VF Mobile Connect) which alone is showing Rs. 7798.80.
On 20-December-2012, I had talked to customer care and inquired about the 2G GPRS pack and later agreed to activate Rs. 599 unlimited GPRS pack (BC599). Customer executive informed me, that I can activate this pack by sending SMS “ACT BC599” at 111 and within 24 hrs the GPRS pack will get activated.
I enquired to the executive that once the activation happens, will there be any confirmation; for which the executive replied that there will be no confirmation and after 24 hrs you can check whether the GPRS is working or not.
Below attached is the transcript of the SMS message received on 20-December-2012 at 5:11 pm
==Hello!! GPRS Pack 599 will be activated on your phone within 24 hours.
You can begin the free usage post that. Thanks==
With this message I also received a GPRS configuration which I installed on my phone.
Exactly after 24 hours, I verified and found GPRS activated on my phone.
But the bill is not displaying any GPRS pack information. In addition to that a huge amount of bill has been calculated.
What was more embarrassing that, today when I talked to the customer care and told about the GPRS pack; he replied back that there was no such request ever received and no such pack has been activated on your number.
As this is a corporate number, I mailed my query to "corpcare.mah@vodafone.com" on 7-January-2013 and hoped for a reply for next 4 days.
Till Friday i.e. 11-January-2013, I did not receive any reply and had to call 198 (Vodafone customer care for billing issue).
This is what they replied back to me:
Your bill is showing Rs. 7798.80 for internet usage (Which I know and this is the reason I call them for the resolution)
No such GPRS pack request ever received (How come I received the acknowledgment for the sms "ACT BC599")
User cannot perform any activation/deactivation of the services through SMS (Why do you have then published the activation/deactivation of services through SMS on https://vodafone.in website)
Your query could not be answered on time as there is no mail through your registered mail-id and even though this is a corporate number & you are placing your request to vodafone corporate-care mail-id "corpcare.mah@vodafone.com" , you must & still require to send your query only through registered mail-id for any resolution and not your corporate/official mail id (Some time back in the month December-2012, I had mailed "corpcare.mah@vodafone.com" through my official mail-id for tariff plan updation and that request got resolved in one single day. Now when I want resolution of my issue, I am been asked to mail only through registered mail-id and currently they are unable to see my mail sent from my official mail-id)
This is worst and unexpected experience of life.
I humbly request to all vodafone customers to beware and careful, when activating/deactivating any service through SMS.
Vodafones internet service is costly and a medium to get extra money out of customer.
Customer care is poor and terribly slow in reacting to your queries. Mainly they do not want to resolve your queries.
New customers thinking to take vodafone mobile services, think again and try to avoid vodafone.

Sandeep
