My father does not carry a mobile. He uased to have a personal mobile for 1 month around 4 years back when the mobile charges were not this cheap. It was a prepaid card that he used at that time, and did not recharge it after one month. But never a postpaid connection in his entire life.
Now the experience that I narrate was extremely disturbing for our family and I was really surprised that it happened from a prestigious company like ’’HUTCH’’.
Few days back, a person called my home and spoke to my mother, no one else was at home. He said he is a police officer, and threatened that he would arrest my father. He gave a lawyers number to my mother and asked her to get in touch with him at the earliest if the arrest was to be avoided. The lawyer explained that my father has DEFAULTED on hutch payment and is going to drag my father to court if the payment is not settled immediately. My mother being diabetic and having high blood preassure started having chest pains listening to all this. Fortunately my father was back home and was able to bring the situation under control.
My father contacted me, and I called up the lawyer demanding an explanation as to why he would threaten people without verifying the facts. His response was to either pay up or face the consequences in court. The manner in which he spoke made me feel like ’’Thrashing him, till he realises what he has done’’. Fortunately one of my seniors at office knew the legal head at Hutch and got the problem solved.
But what if I did not knew any body in hutch.. would my father be taken to court. Shouldnt this company be verifying their facts before reaching conclusions and threatening people at their homes. What about the health risk my mother faced. The matter had got so serious and for NO FAULT of my father.
I never came to know about the reason as to why something like this happened.
Please be cautious when u provide your address details to mobile companies.
I dont know if I could sue the company for the mental harrassment that the caused to my family.
