I had bought a Vertis window air conditioner with 5 years warranty. The air conditioner was hardly used as it was in a (unused) drawing room at my home. After one year the compressor failed. It has a 5 year warranty. After repeated calls, when service people came they wanted Rs 2500 + 300 to repair it. Also they wanted Rs. 1000/- to be paid in advance even before they would take the air conditioner for repair.
I talked to person called Shekhar on phone, who is Service Center co-ordinator. He was extremely rude and said that all these charges have to be paid and they have company policy of levying these hidden charges to make money. He openly said that we could do what we wanted and they intentionally dont disclose these charges at the time of purchase as otherwise nobody will purchase the ACs.
