That familiar yellow sign is a welcome sight wherever my family and I travel. So often you are on the road, and there are lots of places to eat, but you are unsure of what you are going to get. Not so with Waffle House.
We know going through the door that there is a wide variety of food to choose from that is not only satisfying, but familiar, good stuff that just feels homey.
You can get everything from a club sandwich to yeah, of course, waffles. Or steak and eggs. Or a hot bowl of chili with crackers on a cold winters night. Or just a cup of coffee and a slice of warm apple pie.
The prices are decent, too. My family and I can usually get out for less than $20, drinks and tip included.
The places are always small, though, so if youre a crowd of 40, youre gonna have a wait. The whole place probably seats about 50, and thats with every seat filled!
Personally, I love club sandwich with fries. I always know that the bread is going to be fresh, the tomato is going to be perfect and the bacon is just right.
Dont go in expecting a gourmet meal and you wont be disappointed. Go in expecting good food for a good price and youll be well pleased.
As for the atmosphere, youll find that most of these places have regulars. The waitresses are always friendly, and there will always be someone sitting at the counter that lives in the area, stopping by for his morning coffee, or a late night snack after being on the road all day. Small-town kind of stuff, even in big cities. I like that part best, I think. Its comfortable.
