Wake up Sid is a coming-of-age story about Sid(played by Ranbir Kapoor), who is a typical rich guy. He is not a spoilt brat, in fact he is helpful, generous and got his heart in the right place. His failure in his graduation forces him to rethink. Yet, he is not shown as waking up to enlightenment soon. A typical process of blaming others, banging doors, leaving home and despair follow.
He “wakes up” to responsibilities, being organized, independence and working as a photographer. His friends are shown as supportive, dependable and extremely believable.
The love story of Ranbir and Konkona is interesting as both are unsure about their feelings. Both are poles apart, yet they are together in the end of the film.
The lead pair is fun to watch. Comedy is subtle, not at all over the top. Direction(by Ayan Mukherjee) is awesome from someone so young. Music is fresh and vibrant(my personal favourite is ‘Iktara’). The locales are of Mumbai. A good movie for the youth, with believable characters and situations. Some scenes seem too true . Most will be bale to identify some scenes as their past(or present). Watch it- it’s short and sweet.
