From a boy to a man!

A lot of fun! A lot of Masti! Some romance! Little bit of emotions! And definitely some drama!

Nah that is not what the movie is about, it is what I felt when I was in the theatre…yes that is true.

Now before you people kill me for this I will start my review.

The Cast:

Ranbir Kapoor as Siddharth Mehra aka Sid & Sidi(His reel mother Supriya Pathak calls him that)

Konkana Sen sharma as Aisha Banerjee

Anupam Kher as Ram Mehra(Sid’s Father)

Supriya Pathak as Sarita Mehra(Sid’s Mother)

Rahul Khanna as Kabir Chatterjee(Aisha’s Boss)

Kashmira Shah as Sonia(Aisha’s Neighbour)

Namit Das as Rishi(Sid’s childhood friend)

Shikha Talsania as Laxmi(Sid’s Friend)

The Story:

Siddharth aka Sid is a spoilt, ignorant, devoid of emotion, son of a rich businessman. He leads a lavish life. Spends most of his time partying, getting drunk, shopping, photography and play station. On his last day of college he meets Aisha(Konkana), a girl from Kolkata who aspires to be a writer. Though they are diagonally opposite in their views about life, the way they think and all but somehow they click(bhagwan ne milayi jodi you see, lol) in the very first meeting and Sid becomes Aisha’s first friend in the city.

Their friendship becomes stronger by each passing day. Sid helps Aisha to find an address for herself and helps her in getting her house done, along with his gang. Aisha finds a job for herself with a publication as an executive assistant and by the end of the movie also contributes an editorial piece for the magazine(The dream that she came with to Mumbai). On the other hand, Sid fails his final year examination and this leads to a clash between father-son. The result….Sid has to leave his father’s house. With no option left, Sid moves in with Konkana. And this become the turning moment of his life.

Soon he starts realizing the meaning of life! With Konkana’s help he gets a job in the same publication as a photographer.

The desire to do something, to be someone, to be independent, to take responsibility, to respect, to understand and everything else that differentiates a boy from a man becomes his lifestyle.

Though there is nothing exceptional about the storyline but the way it is put is simply amazing. Or I better say its ‘Amazingly Simple’. The movie is not just drama, comedy, sad or romance but its everything in bits and pieces. Its something that most oft the youngsters would relate to. Infact I too can relate to it in someway. While watching the movie, for a moment I was thinking about my days in Xaviers College.

Performance:

Ranbir has done a good job. Am sure he is the one to be looked forward to.

Konkana without any second thought gets A plus. There is something about that girl…she can carry any role. In this movie she is shown older to Ranbir around 4 to 5 years and at no point you feel otherwise. She acts and behaves her age and character to the core.

Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak have smaller roles to play but they fit the bill perfectly.

Rahul Khanna looks a hottie…heheheee….sorry but can’t help. He look so gorgeous. Seems after movies like 1947 Earth, Dil Kabaddi, Rahul has mastered the art of being the sober, sorted and silent type. Though it suits but it appears he has been just tagged!

Kashmira Shah bhi apne role mein theek hai.

And Sid’s friends are kewl too. Am not aware if both Namit and Shikha debuted in this movie but they performed well. Namit needs a special mention. He is extremely expressive and has great potential.

The Music:

Mmmm….average. Fine work by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. My favourite is Iktara. It’s composed by Amit Trivedi. The lyrics of the song are awesome. Thumbs Up for Mr Javed Akhter.

Rest are ok.

My Opinion:

Its definitely a very nice movie. Director Ayan Mukherjee has done a brilliant job as a debutant. Kudos to him!

Guys am not making any comment on product details bloc. I can’t say about the plot and all.there is no plot as such. Just a simple story told in a very simple way. Thats all. And its best to watch with anyone. I went with my brother, his girlfriend and a cousin of mine. Go with anyone you want yaar.

A must watch.
