Being an Anjelina Jolie fan, I knew right from the time I saw the Wanted promos at the screening of The Dark Knight, that I just had to watch it when it came out.
Wanted** is a 2008 action film which is loosely based on the comic book miniseries of the same name by Mark Millar. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, Thomas Kretschmann and Terence Stamp.
"Wanted" tells the tale of one apathetic nobodys transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, were introduced to a hero for a new generation: 25 year old employed slacker, WESLEY GIBSON. Wes is the most disaffected, cube-dwelling, clock-punching drone this planet has ever known. His boss chews him out hourly, his girlfriend ignores him routinely, and his life plods on in interminable boredom and routine. Everyone knows this disengaged slacker will amount to absolutely nothing, and so does he, until he meets the sexy, foxy woman named FOX, and then everything changes. Wes estranged father is murdered, and the deadly Fox recruits him into The Fraternity, a secret society that trains him to avenge his fathers death, by unlocking his dormant powers.
The comic book miniseries Wanted by Mark Millar first attracted the attention of Universal Studios executive Jeff Kirschenbaum, a comic book fan who sought a film adaptation that would be considered a "hard-R" and encouraged the studio to pick up the rights to the miniseries.
The movie has some unbelievable stunts but dont let that slow you down, so did the Matrix series.
The trick is to do the stunt and look good doing that. Anjelina Jolie looks stunning as ever. There is just something about her which totally bowles me over.
In its opening weekend, Wanted grossed$50.9 million in 3, 175 theaters in the United States and Canada, ranking #2 at the box office and averaged an estimated$16, 100 per theater, the$50.9 million opening exceeded the analysts projections of$30-$35 million opening weekend. Wanted has made over$134 million in the US and$281, 501, 222 worldwide.
I really hope they make a series out of it like the comics because I know I want more of it.
The story might be a little far from reality but the presentation was amaizing and all I can say is that it is definitely one of the best thrillers I have seen. It falls under the same genre as maybe Lucky number SLevin or Memento.
Definitely worth a watch and more.
