Waqt is a family drama. It shows the bonding between father and son. Amitabh plays Akshay’s father. He loves his son to an extent that he does’nt let him stand on his own legs (work for a living). Akshay is not a brat, but he takes life very easy, He is caring and loving also respects his father.
Story is very normal ...father loves son very much and mothers wants the son to act more responsible than spending an exorbitant price on a chartered-flight, going to discos. Father has lung cancer and this is not revealed to the son as he will be shattered and not know how to handle the situation. Mother wants the father to reveal to son so that he will mature and become responsible. Father tries to disclose the news of his ill health but the son doesn’t understand the need of maturing hence the father is now forced to act rude and remove him from the house and ask him to stay in the servant quarter. Son here is shocked as he yet doesn’t know abt the father’s ill health but he has to now earn for his living and feed his pregnant wife. Rude behaviour of the father makes him hate his father so much that he refuses his father’s plea to play with his child after he is born.
There are few loopholes in the story.
A. How can a father hide a lung cancer disease from th son till the last minute
B. Father in law and Daughter in law go to the hospital at the same time
Now to talking abt the acting abilities of Guru - Amitabh Bachchan. He had already proved his skills in th Movie BLACK....this movie made him reach the peak of his career. I felt one has to just touch his feet after a fabulous performance in Black. He manages to touch ur heart. He makes u believe in the character that he plays. He is very talented and gifted actor. In Waqt, he has done it again, he dances with his young son with the same vigour. Believe me your jaws wud just drop down.. Also, through out the movie you will be impressed by his acting skills.
Akshay and Priyanka are the latest famous jodi. They look good together. And his favourite combination of while shirt and blues jeans is something that still uplifts him in th movie. Priyanka will go places if she chooses her movie like this wisely.
Beware ladies (Esp Hema Malini) –Shefali Shah has come. Her exposure to Hindi Cinema is but natural due to her husband-Vipul Shah. She is at ease while playing a role of a lady in her fifties. Best part of her that she didnt over do it.
In all, the movie is good and worth a watch. Comedy is taken care by Boman Irani and Rajpal Yadav. So if not anything guys please do not miss Rajpal Yadav.
