Leo Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace’ is a very vast epic based on Napoleon’s war with Russia. Tolstoy peoples his novel with a large cast of over Five Hundred characters and the first  publication year of this book is 1869 .First, Time I have read this book and I really loved it. At more than 1000-1600 pages, this book is one of the longest and popular book of all time. This book masterfully describes the **history of Russia** from the end of the 18th century and into the first third of the 1880s.  The writing of Leo Tolstoy’s writing is easily readable and easily understand.

*Contents and Focus:-** This Novel contains Three Volumes and Fifteen Books. This Novel provides a very interesting and in – depth glimpse into this unusual society of that time . The major focus of this is on two topics. First is the Russian – **French war of 1805 and 1812**. The writer described the wars and  in  particular the battles of Austerlitz and Borodino in very vast detail. Napoleon, **Andrey Bolkonsky**, Pierre Bezoukhov, Kutuzov and Nikolay Rostov and  are the main characters in this Novel.

I love this book and I will definitely recommend ‘War and Peace’ to everyone because it is a very beautiful book which contains very valuable thoughts. Wordsworth’s Edition is one of the best translation and this is the one which received Tolstoy’s approval.
