War for the planet of ape is nothing like the previous parts.
Movie is all about survival of the ape and this time around their survival is threatened by Colonel(Woody) who leads an army of AO(Alpha Omega). Movie begins with Humans attacking the Apes and then how ape’s counter attack and the human survivor’s are given mercy by Caesar.
This time there is an ape(winter) who betrays Caesar and Humans are given Apes whereabouts. Colonel attack along with his army and kills caesars wife and son. Caesar goes moves out with few of his companions and revenge his wife and sons deaths and in the process kills Winter the ape. Caesar feels like he too is tuning into Koba who once hated humans and had tried to kill caesar and eventually was killed by Caesar. There is a long and boring scene of Colonel and Caesar wherein Colonel explains him about his reason for killing his son and wife. Movie also shows a human child who cannot speak and help caesar when he is in prison.
Caesar is captured and then the movie is suddenly changes to the " great escape ". The movie unfold how the ape were able to get themselves free from the human prison.
There are few character who are good like Rocket who shows all his attitude and has a good screen presence and then there is a Gorilla names Donkey who hates caesar and is on humans side but then how he saves Caesar life. Caesar clearly is coming up his age and looks old and slow in his movements but still sharp when it comes to thinking.
Music really does have an impression like other Planet of ape movies.
Cinematography is the only thing that I like about the movie. It has been filmed fantastically right from the jungle scene to the snow capped mountains.
Overall, had a high expectation with the 3rd installment of the planet of ape and this one has disappointed me.
