''WAR not JUSTIFIED''

THERE is no sensible Muslim in the Islamic world who has any sympathy for Saddam. But yes there is lot of resentment against the United States. Why? It is because the US has shown no sympathy for the Palestinians, although they have been wronged for so many years. It is because they have not shown the same sympathy for the suffering of Muslims all over the world. If they are as righteous as they say they are, why has no action been taken against the Israelis? Why has the US not spoken up for the Chechens!

I do not have a shred of sympathy for Saddam or Osama bin Laden because I abhor war, violence and terrorism, whether it is perpetuated by an individual or by a democratic government.

I agree that Saddam has killed more innocent men, women and children than has any enemy of Iraq.

But does the ’second largest democracy’ in the world have permission to commit genocide? Is Israel right in occupying by force, the Palestinian lands? Are the Russians correct in eliminating the Chechens? An honest answer is needed, without any nationalistic sentiments or semantic rhetoric.

I WANT to ask LowOil a question  about his beloved country, the United States. The question is, has he solved all the problems that plague his own country? The US should first deal with trouble within its own neighbourhood, such as Cuba and Central and South America, before it starts interfering elsewhere.

But then, these areas do not deserve attention - because they don’t have large oil reserves that need to be controlled.LowOil needs to wake up and realise that he is not watching a Hollywood film.

THE United States has broken all the rules this time round. Yet there are people who support this war. The US waged this war without UN approval (and against world opinion), citing regime change as an excuse. American media was the first to violate the Geneva Convention by showing tied up PoWs (and civilians, who are supposed to be liberated) being pushed around and body searched.

The Americans have bombed civilian localities. Apart from killing large numbers of women and children, the coalition troops have also destroyed thousands of residential buildings, using cluster bombs, which are said to be banned. They have also bombed hospitals, schools, food storages and even mosques, stating each time, that there were weapons hidden there.

And then they claim to be doing this in the name of liberating Iraqis from Saddam.

If Iraq had any chemical weapons, it would have used them by now. After all, what else does the present regime have to lose?

The issue here is whether the US has the right to walk into another country and do as it pleases. The so-called atrocities of Saddam Hussein seem to have become a fact because they have been recited countless times by the Western media. The Chinese government too has killed its nationals in thousands, because there too, dissidence is rife. Will America dare to go and bomb China?

This is an immoral war and no amount of shifting the goalposts can justify the act. The Americans and British have blood on their hands.
