Whatta Park

Whatta Park

As we had three days holiday, we decided to go for a picnic to Gorai. We always stay at Farry’s. A nice clean self contained place with cottages.

We then thought as we were already in Gorai, and the beach was dirty and the tide was high, why not go to Water Kingdon/Esselworld? So we, the kids, wife and me, drove to Water Kingdom.

The normal ticket per person is about Rs. 390/-. Imagine our good fortune when a park attendant introduced a ’’passport’’ scheme to us. You pay Rs. 1, 999 for all 5 of us and we get 3 visits each to the parks!! This was a fantastic deal and we grabbed it. We had come prepared to pay a bomb, but instead we got an incredible discount!! Thank you Mr. Subash Chandra.

So we spent 2 days at Water Kingdom and 1 day at Esselworld.--nights at Farrys.

Water K is a real nice place. It is very well spaced out, on various levels and has toilets and restaurants at very convenient places. The crowd is not unruly, tho’ surprisingly beer is sold here, (so less peeing in the water)--sorry couldnt resist saying that!!, but only 2 glasses per person.

The food at the Chinese place is terrible and service is also bad. In all the other restaurants/service is good, a total difference from the Chinese place.

In case you go without your swimming trunks, you can buy them there, (Rs. 180 for gents) and they only allow lycra/ synthetic trunks, so be warned all you gujjus who wear salwar kameez/saris/jeans to enter pools- the security is very strict and will just not allow you to enter the water-- I saw many of them pleading, but to no avail.

You can spend an entire day being wet and not mind it or get tired. As you enter, the first of the pools has these bubbles coming out from the bottom--it feels real good and anyone with a back problem should lie on them for about 10 minutes, it actually bring relief! For the adventurous, besides the normal pools, there are also very tall water slides , which look scary, but people really enjoy them. the wave pool is fun too.

The place is clean, and there was a cultural programme in the evening with some beautiful Russian dancers/ jugglers doing their act on a stage above the wave pool. They also have a water/rain disco-with nice music with a dj, so people enter the water get wet , then dance and get more wet!

A really enjoyable 2 days was spent there by us. If anyone wants to go, please mail me. I will be happy to accompany them.
