Ok, I m no English muffin but working here really sucks
Language I understand Hindi, but not slang. Hindi is prime language here which really brings a South Indian like me down. CEOs inspirational speeches are in Hindi, which boost me morale up( to switch jobs).
Ekdum Punjabi HR who really cant speak a complete sentence in English. I guess she is as good as the CEO who hired her
AC policy. Air conditioners are owned by our dearie HR. She controls them.and she feels cold most of the time, while I am sweating. I have really thought of bringing a change of clothes to work sometimes. Most of the times she leaves early so it gets better in evening.*
CEO speaks of new technologies and innovation, but really what I do is copy paste and work on a piece if code which was written by someone years ago.
Open source license are really f&c&ed here.picking up code from here and there.not a line of originality.
My innovation till now:
Modifying a make file to compile a few more files.
Hit and try till "thing" works because there are no official documents, just stolen documents for which we get a printout.
I am an android developer for a day, and then next day I am an embedded c developer. I think I would be a python developer next.
Body-shopping is really a hit formula here. My profile has gone umpteen changes for prospective companies. When the CEO/HR modifies my profile to "suit" the prospective company, it has 100 spelling/grammatical mistakes on an average. I can correct them, but really it would put them off.
I would like to mention a scientist like guy who is our "CTO" or whatever. All he does is check facebook and publish on his blog. I am often told to take his "help". A few times when I have tried, I feel suicidal.either my brain is too small or this guy gives so abstract solutions that only Yoda can understand them
Office environment and my seniors are really wonderful. I constantly get "free/unsolicited professional/personal advise" from a senior who indirectly implies that my conduct is not professional and I should interact more with seniors. And he is really so professional that half of the time he keeps chattering with HR from his desk .out loud. Now I even know his wifes and kids name and I am sure he knows my moms name too.
Privacy and personal life - what is that!? What are you doing this Saturday is a question which always arises.and I am so good that I was able to come up with a fresh activity each time:). Bosss relative frequently asks me about my girlfriend and where I went.
And the others are wonderful too - I am sure thi this semi senior guy will give a BJ to boss if he needs one. This guy is always willing to work late/early/weekends etc along with Mr Bosss relative who also works here.
And yes -the flexi timings. They are here.you can come and leave anytime if you are a senior or the HR. For rest of us the flexi timings do exist -
Seniors/HR: enter between "11AM - 2PM" and exit at "6-7PM"
Normal Males: enter between "9-10" and exit at "7-10+"
Normal Females: enter between "9-10" and exit at "4.30-5.30"
This is my honest review after working here for around a year.
I hope it changes.
