I purchased a WD 1TB Elements drive four months ago. Windows 7 on my brothers computer had crashed again. On this ocassion, the computer was stuck in a loop and would not load the Windows 7 Reinstallation program off the DVD. The iBuyPower computer had only one 1 TB HDD. I removed her HDD and placed it in my Windows 7 computer. I then connected the WD Elements drive into my USB 3.0 port. It appeared instantly in my Windows Explorer directory tree, as "G:\Elements."
Then I copied all her important working files, by subdirectory, onto the WD Elements drive. Several days later when I got his computer working back to specs, I connected the WD Elements drive to her USB 3.0 port. Using the Windows Backup program, I created a complete Backup. Then using the Windows program, I created a Systems Image. In the future, if her computer crashes again, I will be able to restore her computer using the data stored on the WD Elements drive.Basically, I am impressed with the WD Elements drive. It runs cool, is very quiet, and somewhat fast. The way the price keeps dropping, it makes sense to get one to backup my computer. The small LED indicator light flickers when data is being passed. Windows Explorer readily accesses the drive and lists all its directory and file contents. Great product WD as usual.
