It’s been sometime now that I have bought this wired hard disk. Initially it was working good. So to keep it that way I bought a safety case for it. Today both are useless.
Problems -
1. The drive’s data transfer rate between devices was already much slower than expected.
2. The main reason I bought this device was that it can withstand shocks and was more safe than others with good warranty period. But it turned badly as the hard drive was broke without any logical explanation. It just stopped working 1 day.
3. Whenever I tried connecting. It was making some sound like it’s moving parts are stuck and disk can’t rotate.
4. The device was not even showing in computer.
5. I checked website for any troubleshooting help. But it was in vain too. No valid information was available.
6. As my device was in warranty so I decided to put up mail and tell them to help.
7. The response was very late. They took almost a month to response and gave some non working ideas to troubleshoot it that I have already done.
8. I still decided to go ahead and replied that none of it works and shared a screenshot. They also asked me to tell me on which operating system am I using it on? I told Linux. And they replied that they are not sure about the problem.
9. From the very 1st mail I tried to tell that there is some issue in the drive’s hardware and they were neglecting and looking for problem in software.
10. Not to mention all those late email replies which do not provided any help. Finally I was fed up and decided that my money was lost.
I would personally not recommend this product as my experience with product and service was way below expectation. Maybe that is the reason I haven’t seen anyone using a wd’s hard disk.
