Don't use their services

I received a text from Wefixit stating that we can get a free estimation of the household paint job. I called up the number given in the sms and the sales guy arrived next day. He gave us an estimate and took a post-dated cheque (30% of the total amount) with a promise that a surveyor will arrive on sunday to correctly judge the time required to paint our house.


On Sunday the surveyor arrived in the evening and told us that the estimate seems fine and we can start the work from Wednesday. The cheque I gave to sales person got cleared on Wednesday evening but no work started till saturday and that too after my repeated calls to surveyor and sales person. The surveyor told me that as the work got delayed by 3 days, they would deploy 4-5 labours each day in order to finish the work on-time. On saturday, 2 labours arrived in an 8-seater auto which the company calls cab.


They brought low-grade putty (some local brand) against the company promise of using a branded putty. Their supervisor arrived at 12 PM and I asked him why they sent low grade putty to which he had no clue about. He called up the surveyor to know regarding this and surveyor told him to use the local putty as the base for the walls.


I objected strongly and asked him to use branded products only which was promised earlier. He told me that the labours would take back the local putty and bring the reputed one next day in the morning in their CAB. The labour was sitting idle whole day and left in the evening at 5.30. Next day labour arrived with no material & tools and the same local putty arrived at 4.00 PM after waiting for the whole day. I called up the supervisor and made him aware of the situation and asked him to stop work if they are unable to work properly. Supervisor called up his manager and he sent two used bags of branded putty from his other site where the work had stopped due to some reasons. I guess they would have stopped the work because of same unprofessional way of working by this company. The labour used the putty and started work in one of our rooms. When we asked them to start the work from the back porch of our house the supervisor told me that he had no worksheet for the exterior paint work. We had clearly stated our requirements to the sales person and surveyor that we need weather-proof exterior job work done but they missed out on this point in their job sheet and no work could be done for two consecutive days. I believe there is a lot of miscommunication and mismanagement at the different levels in this company and till the time these things gets resolved you should avoid getting any kind of work done from this company. I got the feedback from their labours that this company has done similar sub-standard work at other sites as well and we should have avoided giving them this contract in the first place. We have asked the company to refund us our advance amount but I am not sure if it is of any use. I believe one should research on mouthshut and ask others before giving work contracts to any such company. I have met one of their old employees and got to know that the company is famous for giving an estimation for emulsion paint job but actually carries out white-washed (choona) job at the end. Any 7 days job would be stretched to 15 days with low sub-standard work. Several customers of this company had to repaint their house as the company labours spoiled their home walls with sub-standard work. My advice is to do your research first, if you have time then go and buy the branded products yourself and give the work to some good contractor.
