Well, here I thought I had it all figured out. McDonalds was on the bottom of the list and Wendy’s closer to the top. But, I guess it all depends on the specific restaurant.
Let me tell you what happened today.....
3:40 PM. It’s pouring rain and I was just on my way home from grocery shopping. I was craving a burger and fries with a big cold drink. McDonalds on the left, Wendy’s on the right. I turned right.
I pulled up to the drive thru speaker and rolled my window about 1/4 of the way down and after getting soaked it took a good 3 minutes before an annoyed voice came through and said, ’’Hold a min willya?’’ Okay, so I left my window down just a bit to be able to hear the voice again when she came back. 2 more minutes, ’’Drive to the window please.’’ Here I am in the rain, getting wet all this time.
I get to the window and see 3 females chatting away and laughing, popping their bubble gum and finally, as if I were a complete surprise to them, one of the girls opens the window and says, ’’What kin I gettcha?’’ I stay calm, ’’A Jr. bacon cheesburger, french fries and a biggie coke, please.’’ I say. She says, ’’Okeedokee, one minute.’’
Mind you, it’s pouring rain. She comes back to the window and says, ’’That’ll be $3.15.’’ I open my window wider and hand her $3.25..She drops the quarter and says matter of factly, ’’Geez, I didn’t expect change, I thought you were giving me bills. Do ya think you could get the quarter for me?’’ I hand her another quarter, not wanting to get out of the car in the pouring rain.(Although I’m already wet from opening and closing the window.)
Finally, my 10¢ change and my food comes.
Don’t get me wrong, I really do like Wendy’s, a whole bunch better than McDonalds. They have the great Valu menu, all items for 99¢. Jr. bacon cheesburger, baked potato, chili, biggie drinks, biggie fries, etc. Always hot and fresh.
They also make a killer pita and a great fried chicken sandwich. As well as a real good grilled chicken.
I also love to get a big baked potato and top it with their just spicy enough chili.(Add a drink, and you’ve got a $3.00 meal!)
The salads I’ve had at Wendy’s are also always fresh and crisp. They have a garden salad, a chef salad and a really good taco salad.
Any Wendy’s I’ve ever been to has also always been clean and bright, the restrooms are always spotless and the employees smiling and helpful.
I guess today was just a bad day at this particular Wendy’s.
You still cant beat having lunch for $3.99 where the food is cooked fresh and doesn’t sit under heat lamps in a holding bin.
So Wendy’s actually still sits higher on my list than McDonalds, but one notch lower than Burger King now, instead of even with them. The only fast food, burger restaurant that I can honestly say I like better though, is Checkers or Jack in the Box.
So, I guess I’ll forgive those 3 girls today and keep on enjoying Wendy’s.
