Yes, ’’What Women Want’’ is a fluffy chick flick. But I’m a chick and I really loved it! And my husband did too! It follows the misfortune of ad man/stud/thinks-he’s-irresistible-to-women Nick Marshall, who after a freak accident is left with the power to hear what women really think! Thus begins this romantic comedy which is truly delightful! Mel Gibson stars, and boy is it nice to see him venture into comedy again (and by the way, I think there should be some kind of international law that states that every woman on this earth has the right to snog Mel once in their lifetime, they could set up a rota or something...) Anyway, Helen Hunt co-stars, and we love her too, as Darcy, Nick’s new boss whom he uncompromisingly steals the thoughts and ideas of. There are some lovely scenes in this, and the whole sub-plot of the bespectacled office junior that noone notices is very touching.
Definitely goes on my list of ’’to buys’’ when it’s released on DVD, and to those of you who hate chick flicks, give it a go...after it’s Mel and Helen! And there are definitely worse ways to spend a couple of hours!
