’’What Women Want’’ has a light, unique storyline that does not take itself too seriously, giving the audience lots of reasons to laugh and smile. Mel Gibson plays his character superbly; it is hard to imagine him being somebody other than Nick Marshall.
Nick Marshall (MEL GIBSON) is a confident hotshot advertising executive who has no problem charming the ladies.

After a freak electrocuting accident Nick acquires the ability to hear what women think. After being advised by a marriage counselor (Betty Midler) that it is a gift and not a curse, Nick goes off to conquer women and the world. As such, he then sets out to read the thoughts of the various women in his life and use that information to figure out his teenage daughter, and impress his Dan with Darcy’s (Helen Hunt), his rival at his company, ideas before she does.
While doing so, however, he eventually realizes why women behave and think the way they do, and soon begins to change his way toward them.
This film is as much a romance as it is a comedy. You get to see Mel Gibson in a bra, pantyhose, and red nail polish. How can you not howl with laughter?
