Almost all my friends started using whatsapp more than a year back & I joined whatsapp 2 months back! This is mainly because I thought this app is super stupid that allows you to send messages for free(which I can anyway do), my mom was not allowing me to use it & because EVERYONE has a whatsapp these days. But after one of my friends literally forced me to download it, I did & I was certainly forced to change my mind about it.
It’s after all not all that stupid. You can contact almost ANYONE(only if you have his/her number) even if you don’t have you free messages. The speciality of the app is that it allows you to connect with people through free messages, however you need an internet top up in your phone or a wifi connection. The app works only in Android phones, blackberries & I phones. But I have a few friends who use it & they DON’T have androids(they’re using the normal Nokia phones).
Coming to its features, it is very much like a social networking site, where you can upload you profile pictures, update statuses, see other’s, but you can not like other’s people’s pictures & statuses & can not comment on them either. If you have a person’s contact saved in you phone & that person is on whatsapp, his/her contact is automatically added to your whatsapp contacts.
Next, what I love about this app is the emotes!! It probably has ALL the types of emotes that you can think of, starting from the normal smileys(wide variety of smileys too) through different flowers, animals, human figures & ending with guns, knives & bombs!
You can also change the chat background, use any wallpaper of your choice(selecting either from your pictures present in you phone or by clicking pictures whenever you want to) but it has to be the same for ALL your contacts( unlike Viber).
Another amazing thing about it is that you can share almost everything with your friends including contacts, images, videos, voice recordings, locations etc etc.
I’m using wifi to use whatsapp(i don’t use it outside) & I won’t b able to mention how much they charge for the installation & usage, but the app mentions that the first year of its use is totally free & from the next year you’d have to renew it & then they’ll charge around 50 bucks or a little more than that.
well last but not the least I would definitely recommend it to each & everyone out there. Its an amazing way to come in contact with your people & that too for free!
