Definitely not the Coolest One

Hi Readers,

I guess I found an interesting topic to write once again ? Whirlpool Refrigerators ?with whom I have had a harrowing experience ? an experience to let go an experience to forget. Even though my folks back home always wanted to go in for the Electrolux or Kelvinator Brand name- it was me incidentally who thought why not try out the Quick Chill Range from Whirlpool.

The looks are classic, the body is still sturdy after 5 years of use and yes after 7 major overhauls it looks a class above the rest. I never had any problem with the refrigerator during the 1st Warranted Year during which I enjoyed the coolest mango shakes and the perfect Ice-Cream you can expect.

The problem started one summer afternoon when my mom announced that the water in the Refrigerator wasn?t cooling properly and we had to call in the Technical Engineers from the Company. On first inspection it was announced that it was merely a problem with the wiring and we would have to send the defective Refrigerator to the Service Centre.

The time never came for me to ask when I would get the same back ? and It was a long 2 weeks after which I finally got through after contacting some top brass by sending frantic Faxes to the Company?s Top bosses. It was reported that the problem seemed to be with the Cooling System and there would be a refill of the same and the Refrigerator delivered to my place before the weekend- the only aspect which I found hard to digest was that I had to pay 500 odd bucks for the repair. This seemed utterly out of the question as I had signed a 7 year contract with the company for the maintenance of the compressor and the coolant system. When contacted the company had to say that this is the nominal amount they charge for service and cartage.

Since then we have sent the Refrigerator 6 more times to the Service Centre and shelling out some real hard earned money for the same. I personally would not recommend this Refrigerator or the Brand Name for anyone concerned.

Well there are certain things you need to keep in mind if your hell bent on buying this refrigerator from Whirlpool:

You need to buy a Electric Voltage Stabilizer even though the warranty specifies that it is not required.

The best time to buy the Fridge would be the summer time.

Pray to God that you don?t face problems as I did.

Hope you like the review and take my advice!!!
