Some Flowers Have Thorns

I’m not a fan of scary books but I haven’t been feeling to well and I had finished reading all the books I had so a friend brought me a few books to read. This was one of them.

Virginia Cleo Andrews is the author of the Wildflower. This is the first book in a series.

The Wildflowers

Misty is trapped in the middle of her parents’ bitter divorce, she hides a secret deep inside...she hates them.

Star may never forgive her parents for the pain they have caused her. In the safety of these new friends, she will finally face the nightmares of her past.

Jade has just escaped the madness of a courtroom battle. She the ordeal was too traumatic to forget and much too terrible to share.

Cathy have stories of her own, buy thinks maybe she should lie or make something up.

The Plot

The plot is told by one person. It beings in Beverly Hills, California

The parents and the children are beginning to enjoy their new home and life. In real life no one can escape from what they did in the past and this book is like life.

Cathy, (Cat), Jade, Misty and Star are going to Dr. Marlowe, (a psychiatrist). The young people slowly learn to trust one another. These four are his wildflowers.

Their secretes emerge when an old lady moves in next door. Bart likes her so much he starts to call her grandmother. John Jackson is her butler and he has a ton of horror stories about Bart’s family. Bart tells Jory and the children get angry. They begin to feel if they could forgive their mother they might all find peace at last.

Meanwhile back at Dr. Marlowe’s they being to open up to him and tell them about their lives. He forces Cathy to look at a book that is about her history.

The parents believe now they are at Dr. Marlowe’s sessions everything will be better. Are they right or are they wrong?

The girls decide to get together and try to do some terrible new things.

What I Thought

Some of the secrets are about animals, and I found that it was distasteful and didn’t need to be included in the book.

Despite the animals I found the plot kept me on the edge of my chair, and a few scenes actually scared me.

Virginal Andrews develops her characters very well and know how to write about horrific things.

If you enjoy this type of book you’ll enjoy it. If you are like me, don’t read it.

I am giving this a 3 star rating to let the members who read my review a choice.
