As I am writing this review, I am listening to Win 94.6 Fm on my Nokia 7250. Okkie, this is not a review on this sleek Nokia fone, but on the radio station, but I must add here that the combination is just fabulous and a pleasant Sunday as a perfect icing on the cake!
I felt that it would be only fair to write a review on this entertaining radio station which I tune in to whenever I am in the mood for listening quality Hindi music.
On a qualitative viewpoint, when it comes to preferences towards a radio station, I have observed that usually once a listener likes certain aspects of a radio station, he or she would prefer to listen only to that station only and not others. So the radio station (brand) loyalty is higher as compared to a TV channel.
I must say here that I am relatively new to the radio scene in Mumbai and had started off by occasionally listening to Red Fm. It is a good radio station but I somehow felt that they were getting a bit monotonous at times. And at the same time, I found Win 94.6 very lively and vibrant.
So, there I was tuned in to Win 94.6 and I haven’t looked back to any radio station since then. Dear readers, probably you would like to know the reasons why I like Win 94.6 in comparison to its competitors, so here they go (Please note that these are my personal thoughts and therefore, you may or may not agree with them!):
1) The songs that are played cater to all sections of the society, be them be young, middle aged or old; rich, middle-class or the poor. As a result, there is proximity developed between the listeners and the radio station.
2) And the presenters cement this advantage still further. I found them quite natural, unlike other radio station where they give out a tinge of the mimosa pudica plant! They are fellow common people like us and they present themselves like that and that’s what I like.
Some of the RJ’s at Win 94.6 are Malishka, Anuraag, Hema, Roshan Abbas and Divya....you all are doing a fine job fellas, keep it up!
3) We all know a radio station needs sponsors, but that does not mean that you have to squeeze in the ads wherever possible. Play them, but in an organized manner and that’s what Win 94.6 does, much to the relief of the listeners.
4) Still with the sponsors, there are some exciting contests happening throughout the week and they steam up with a lot more of them in different varieties in the weekends. So, that keeps a listener glued it to the radio station as everyone gets an equal chance to win!
5) A day starts with the bubbly Malishka on the breakfast show with her cute multi-lingo wise-cracks, followed by Anuraag Pandey bowling the maidens over (you lucky guy...koi nahin, hum bhi peeche nahi hain janaab...lol!). The afternoon belongs to soothing voice of Hema and the evening (date?!) with the scintillating Divya. At the night, Roshan Abbas plays some great oldies!
Thus, in all a complete radio channel- Win 94.6 Fm. Hear it to believe it!
