This is a review for Shadow Zone, Static-Xs new album.
Static-X, on first hearing, may sound like yet another scream-your-heart-at-the-world kind of band...but, (here come the review cliches) theyre NOT!
Static X is an industrial rock band, meaning the backgrounds are filled with weird buzzes and crackles...
At 37 minutes, Shadow Zone is a tightly crafted album...with only one song extending over 3 and a half minutes..
Lets run it down!
Destroy All 8.5/10 - Gives a good feel to an intro song, goes at a superlative speed from start to finish. Not the best on the album though.
Control it 9/10 - I like the tone of the song, it has a deep feeling to it when you hear Waynes voice and the drifty guitar tones here. The Riff in the background is just too good!
New pain 8/10 - An average song, its ok, but not one of my favorites. The Chorus is pretty ok.
Shadow Zone 10/10 - My second favorite song on the album, everything sounds in place when the song changes tone from heavy to mellowed out and I love how the keyboards come in here.
Dead world 8/10 - Another average song on the album, the chorus guitar riffs keep it up to an 8 though
Monster 9/10 - Fast paced, I love how wayne halts his vocals here along with the guitars, makes me want to imitate me playing my guitar doing the same thing :P. Nice sampled intro.
The Only 9.5/10 - I love this one. Waynes Vocals are very impresiive, expecially when he growls - Youre Trying to Take Me!
Kill your Idols 8/10 - Hard hitting, machine style song, great from start to finish.
All in Wait 11/10 - I absolutely love this song! Undoubtedly my favourite on the album. Everything is put together so well, makes me feel like Im in a shadow zone myself!
Otsegolectric 10/10 - Another Otsego hit! These never get tiring, all three otsegos have such a strange tone to them, keep the otsegos coming guys!
So 6/10 - This song doesnt sound like Static-X , its good but just not my kind of steam, only song I skip.
Transmission - Dont think its really even a song, so I wont give it a rating.
Invincible 10/10 - Great song, melodic, mellowed down heavy riffs, Wayne does a great job - showing off his amazing vocal abilities here.
