Woh Lamhe

Where do I start on "Woh Lamhe". All I have to say is this that Bollywood is really using the hell out of this mental illness where the patient has hallucination of seeing someone who doesn’t exists. Where Munna Bhai took a comedy route, "Woh Lamhe" takes a tragic love story route.

The movie begins just like most of the Bhatt’s movies. The tragedy has already taken place. Kanga, a super star who was lost for couple of years is found and she tried to commit suicide. The reporters claim that Shiney is the real culprit. Then the movie goes into the flashbacks.

Shiney didn’t mean to fall in love with Kangna. It was the fact that she was mentally ill and his father was also mentally ill that they both come closer. Her mental problem is that she sees a girl who was her struggling friend but is now jealous and wants to kill her or have her kill someone. Her mother and over controlling boyfriend try to get her cured quickly because of money loss they would have to handle. They were willing to give her electric shocks to get her fixed. However, Shiney takes her into his own hand and tries to cure her through medication and not electric shock. She becomes a problem for shiney and this is the dilemma that he struggles with throughout the movie.

I did not understand why was the mother centered at the money part. Why she didn’t care about the well-being of her daughter? There was just no reason given. In addition, why did she live with her boyfriend even after he abused her.

One thing I like about this movie was that it was made with passion. They did not delete scenes for the sake of making it a certain type of film. They showed everything that was necessary in this movie. It was clear that the director knew what he was doing.

Another positive thing about about this movie is that the music was soothing to ears. The song called "Tu jo nahin hai to Kuch bhi nahin hai" is very touchign song which supplements the sentimental aspect of the film.   "Kya mujhe pyaar hai" is also another good number which is currently also topping music charts.

To sum up, this movie will leave a mark in your heart after you watch it. You will remember the remarkable acting done by Kangna. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Shiney. He seems dull in most emotional scenes. He may have to work harder on his acting.
