Writing Reviews on MouthShut

Being a very new member of this awesome site , I humbly admit that I have just written 4 reviews of which 2 are Somewhat Recommended & 2 are ( Thank God ...whew !! ) Recommended ! ( BIG TIME SMILE )

The question therefore will be asked as to Who am I to opine on ’’ Writing Reviews on MouthShut ’’ !!!

Well , I am a learner and this is what I have learnt ( and still learning !! ) :

WHILE WRITING REVIEWS.....

1. It is best to write reviews on subjects in which you have a fairly adequate knowledge !

Mundane & irrelevant statements made , has no impact whatsoever.

The information should be USEFUL to others

1. My review shouldn’t appear to communicate that I am the LAST WORD on the subject !

However knowledgeable I might be , there is always room for modesty !

1. I remember the teachings of my professor ( from my college at Darjeeling ) , Fr.Stanford , ..

’’ Follow the K.I.S.S principle. ’’

That is ’’ Keep It Simple & Stupid ( To be understood by all )

My English need not be verbose & flowery. It should be simple but correct English

1. My review should be structured and well knit.

Loosely structured reviews are dull & drab & will fail to evoke any interest amongst readers.

I have often gone off to sleep reading my own ill knit & unstructured reviews.

1. A dash of good humour will only make my review that much more readable .

Serious , Stiff Upper Lipped reviews are ok & definitely relevant but I prefer reviews which , at the end of it , will leave me with a smile !!

AFTER WRITING REVIEWS.....

1. Feel elated or sad as the case maybe ( depending upon how many people have read my ’’ Review ’’ & how have they rated the review ! ( No harm in feeling this way ! Not to feel guilty ...after all , we are mere mortals ).

2. Have a positive attitude towards ’’ Ratings ’’ !

I need to admit that every reader is entitled to his/her own opinion /judgements !

I attempt to thank people who have rated my review positively & now I am seriously making efforts to thank readers who have rated my review poorly. This is not an easy task but I have already convinced myself that all said and done , these members atleast took time off to read my review & I disappointed them !

1. Continue to wait with bated breath ( like a high school kid waiting for his/her result on the D - DAY ) to see how my review has been accepted !!

Ha Ha Ha !

Come on !! We all do that !! Don’t we ? ( Wink )
