Mouthshut cannot change the world. Venting thoughts out is a good thing on a public forum like this wherein you get the feedback instantaneously. When we write do we intend to communicate something or is it just we are writing for the pleasure of writing or simply to put it we are writing for the heck of it.
See there is a purpose for everything. We work to Eat. We Eat to Live. We live for a Life. Life remains till we savor the moments before we pass away. A chain reaction of sorts. But thats just too generalized to put it. We come in a world and cannot live or even prolong without communication.
Hence to sumup above thoughts we actually write to Communicate our feelings, hard facts, excitement, hatred etc via the way provided. I would say friends use it. There has been ages in the world we live wherein words have been barred in closed quarters, mouth have been sealed and even resulted in loss of life and all ended with a agony of not communicating. So the point is Write and do it effectively.
Writing reviews on Mouthshut can be scratch topic to pen on and I know once this review finishes I will get few ratings and few comments and then it will be business as usual. My purpose of writing this review is not to teach on review writing because no one can be that perfect to be as authoratative and enlighten people on reviewing all I can do is Guide.
What are you Entertainer, Cribber, Blogger or a Writer with sense to convince. MS is a business blog site. Get the word Business Blogs. You are reviewing the pros and cons of a product, you are providing advices and also you are conveying your point of view. So ensure that the moment you step into a writer shoes clear what you intend to do. You dont like a Actor or a Product all you do is say I hate it, I hate it and some thing more bad without saying Why? or is it really that bad then what you show it to be.
People the reason is simple many a times we try to force our thoughts on to people which unfotunately isnt possible on MS. So write with Conviction and write what you honestly feel.
Cribber and Bloggers, there are sites like Blogspot.com and others for you.
Entertainer for being entertaining arent required. Can you entertain with being in the product line and then writing with your unique style, then you are useful else no.
Well writing for pleasure is good and no harm at all but then choosing your topics have to be worthwhile. There are people I see flooding the topics like Best 10, Worst 10 on movies etc which is in my opinion USELESS. Why would I like something that you like or vice versa. Subjective judgemental topics like this are something not at all required but MS is a business also and they need numbers so such topics are good for starters.
Then sometimes I see people writing like personal Diary and blogs, They become too casual in style and even get good hits, Just because they are casual people start liking such kind of reviews and they enjoy such fast reads. This spoils the habit of being a avid reader actually. People our habits switch sides and suddenly we become addictive to such writings and we stay away from good comprehensive reviews where in a writer has put a lot of Fact and Research.
Don’t get me wrong but I feel members like Lallupanju and others write it just too casually and then many writers miss out on hits thanks to such reviewers.(I have nothing personal against the said member. I apologize for the offence). Fact remains a casual light review without much research is like a Pornographic Film which gets in more viewers then a meaningful movie. It happens and I am talking about habits. Such things can make you popular ofcourse but you have to understand that you are a mode of entertainment for them and nothing as a guidance to them.
Writing has to bring in constructive criticism and has to be balanced. The pitch of the review has to be neutral and not like as if you are fan or you really hate the product in question. Your balanced view doesnt hurt anyone. Because if you are too much in favor or against u will gain one sided tag from the readers and a balanced viewpoint satisfy most.
I have seen people write for comments. They write with an intent to Somehow provoke a thought in the readers mind so they comment him, I would say that is good but that it not your mind it is actually a manipulation.
For getting good hits and all I would suggest you to write on Friday Movies, New Products and New Albums. Thats it you will have hits but that dont prove much on your writing abilities. I can churn out 150 words of a movie review on a Friday and get 10000 hits . Thing is what I gain from it. People write something when you want to have a say on something. Something that urges you to write.
Friends Write weighing all pros and cons, balance it well and ofcourse write it concisely and with precision. Also No hi fi english because you are writing and not giving sermons.
I know its a forgettable review but I feel I communicated something that was in me.
Please Format your reviews well unlike me. Thats bad side of me.
