Peaceful & Relaxing Weekend Experience

Wynberg is a small resort in Waynad district, Kerala, India. It is advertised as Eco friendly resort situated amongst coffee, pepper, rubber and vanilla plantation, with 6 terrestrial cottages, 1 tree top and 2 suite luxury cottages, and 1 luxury tent available for a pleasant stay. It’s an idle weekend destination for bangloreans and nearby metros and a peaceful vacation idea if you want to get away from din& cry of the city and experience the plant and insect kingdom on your own with a pinch of solitude & isolation. It specializes in wild life, adventure, and plantation tourism but I didn’t try as my main motive was to rest in serenity. Packages are quiet expensive but are value for money as staff is very hospitable and ambiance is nice. Best part which I liked was it has got an in-house dinning area where they serve food on buffet, providing, south Indian, kerala, north Indian cuisine in all the meals. The food was extremely good with a fine mix of south and north Indian cuisine. Moreover the staff will pamper you to have some more each time you are full.

There is a small multipurpose hall where I practiced indoor games with family after a long time like caroms, darts and table tennis etc. There is a wellness ayurvedic massage area but one needs to have an advance booking in order to try it out. best to take a taxi with a local driver and keep him at your disposal as resort is located in interior and one needs to have a car/ taxi to come to the main road or nearby destinations of tourist interest. Hiring on adhoc basis would very costly and may be an inconvenience. Resort provides a good parking and driver accommodation so no hassles. If someone is interested in wildlife photography or an adventure trip ask for information from the staff as they are experienced in Wild life photography, jungle treks.

Variety of stay options are available I would suggest one should try different option each day. I tried eco cottage, Tent and Tree top and mind it each one was a different experience altogether. All Eco Cottages comfortable and are set like tribal dwellings; incorporating material comforts like running hot/cold water, tiled floors etc., in rustic settings.

Near by places of tourist interest

· PookotLake-a pristine lake with clean environs good for boating.

· Banasura Project-A hydel tourism area-power boating/nature walks.

· Kanthampara water falls-A nice cascading water fall amidst forests. Road is quiet narrow. It’s good to carry towel and swimming costume if you feel like having a dip. Idle place for picnic.

· Karapuzha dam-Second largest earthen dam in India and a nice viewpoint.

· Muthanga wild life sanctuary: One can try a Jeep Safari which is very muddy and full of dust so carry goggles and gloves. Lot of monkeys and deer along with a few elephants. This borders the BandipurNational Park and Mudumali sanctuary.

Overall it’s a peaceful soothing and relaxing experience.
