Being a X-Men fan for long time it was so nice of Indiatimes.com to gift me with a couple of Movie Tickets on its X-Men contests. Though myself never a fan of Times Group, I still loved them for providing me the tickets at PVR, they have done this to me for third time, first with Flubber(Robin Williams), second being Bridget Jones Diary and now its X-Men X2 United.
Coming back to movie this movie again raises the question, What is it that makes the audiences pulse beat ?
, because neither this movie had a plot to ravish about, nor did it have the direction that will make us remember it for a long time, but what it had was Superb Special Effects, and our fantasy that being kids, Marvel comics provided us.
Plot :
As I said earlier not much of a Plot Movie, but it does keep the continuity with the X-Men Part I, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
This time around instead of two groups of X-Men fighting against each other, they unite to fight their Ancestor Species, the Human. Humans being portrayed as Villains, Stryker a human, being shown as the nemesis of Mutant Species.
Cerebro is a machine which can locate Mutants throughout the planet. Constructed by Prof. Xavier and Magneto, this machine can only be used by Prof. Xavier, who plays as the God Father to all the Good Mutants. Magneto does that for few evil once.
Stryker with the help of his son, Jason (who has the power to create Illusions in anyones mind, even Xaviers), gets Xaviers to use Cerebro to kill all the Mutants on Planet Earth. Stryker is also the one who had administered Admantium Metal to Wolverines Skeleton.
In the fight between Mutants and Humans, a lot of lives are lost on both side. Among Mutant the Tele-Kinetic Jean loses her life(so to say), and Stryker who is Great Military Scientist dies.
Thrillers :
We get acquaintance with a few new Mutants, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Pyro, Deathstryke and Jason, all those with their special powers makes us awe with wonder. Mystique changing herself to anyones form makes us wonder, were are we going to see her again. Jason as a mutant who cause Prof. Xaviers eye widen with fear. Wolverines meets Stryker.
Where it Gains :
Great Graphics, one that makes this movie so special.
Camera work looks so great.
Editing bench has done a commendable job.
Locations are memorable betters even Bollywoods Dance/Song location ;).
Still able to Thrill the audience.
Where it Loses :
Not the kind a movie you remember for long.
Direction, though good, still could have been better.
Plot is week, with so many story from Marvel Comics lined up, they could have chosen a better one.
Jean Dies :(.
Verdict :
Very Good movie if you are a X-Men freak, or if you get the tickets free as in my case. But in the recent time we have seen so many of Comic Heros on the screen that even if you get this movie a go by, it is not that you lost something. Then again you always have HBO/ Star Movies to fall back too. So we can give it 3 and half star, or being a bit more lenient 4 star. But for kids( less than 23 age) its a Must Watch.
