Look and feel:
In terms of overall size and dimensions the mi oad has a lot of common with apple I pad mini. Xuaomi says it has ised magnesium alloy in the construction of mi pad but you wouldn’t know by looking at it. The shell isn’t removable so the bettery is sealed in. There is a microSD tray on the left side and the power and volume button on the right side. 3.5 mm headphone jack on top and a micro usb port on the bottom.
Specification and software:
The most interesting line on the mi pad spec sheet is the SoC description. This is the only one products that use Nvidia’s Tegra K1 SoC. Mi pad features Nvidia’s 32 bit tegra k1 which has four core clocked at 2.2 GHz and a fifth low power companio core that kicks in to let the main core go to sleep when power need to be conserved. The SoC support by 2gb of ram. This model has 16 gb of storage which can be expanded upto 128 gb using microSD card. You get Wi-Fi and bluetooth 4.0 but no gps provided with this device. There is no version of this tabket with a cellular data capability or voice calling. The screen measures 7.9 inch and has a resolution of 1536×2048 just like apple I pad mini. On the camera dept. Mi pad has and 8 mp rear camera and a 5 mp front camera. You can record 1080p video but there is no flash available. The bettery capacity is 6, 700 mAh. The phone runs on MIUI 6 based on anroid 4.4.4.
Perfomance:
Thanks to its hardware, the mi pad should have tremendous potential for gaming. Sure enough I was able to crank out a very impresive average of 42 fps in GFXbench test
Xiaomi as always offers a balanced mode and perfomance mode. I found the screen of the xiaomi mi pad to be sharp, clear and generally pleasant to use. It struggled a bit under direct sunlight. Perfomance is smooth but the speakers were a bit dissappointing. The sound was muffled and harsh with distortion at higher volumes. Sound is good for playing games but not for music and movie.
Camera is pretty good by tablet standards. Camera is not the best but its good enough to serve in a pinch.
The bettery lasted approx 12 hours while playing continuous video playing. This is a pretty good result
Verdict:
Xiaomi offers a product that isn’t perfect but offers absolutely terrific value for money
