Some days back I bought the cassette of ’’YAADEIN’’ with lots of expectations as it was being made out to be the second best thing after ’’LAGAAN’’.But what a let down.It does not come even close to Lagaan.Something better was expected from a Subhash Ghai movie as he sets such high standards for his music.His previous film, had great music but then it had music by Rehman and great things are expected from people of Rehman’s calibre.Yaadein has music by Anu.m and I feel that Anu Malik has remarkably improved as a music director with Refugee, Fiza, Josh and Mujhe.k.k.h but Yaadein is not in the league of great music.
The album has ten tracks out of which one is a theme music(instumental) and the other a Alaap done by Sunidhi Chauhan.
ELI RE ELI for me is the best track on the album.Its sung with aplomb by Alka.Y, Kavita.k.S and Hema.S.It sound’s like some ceremony song and has a very catchy tune to it.
YAADEIN YAAD AATI HAIN is also a good song but tends to get kind of boring after some time.Its in two versions one sung by Hariharan and the other by Sunidhi.c and Mahalaxmi iyer.The song is being aired on T.V nowdays.
JUB DIL MILEY is sung by Asha.B, Udit.N, Sunidhi.C and Sukhwinder.S.The song seems to be a direct lift from some Rehmans song.Well this seems to be habit with Anu malik.
CHAMAKTI SHAAM HAI, CHANDA TAARE and KUCHH SAAL PEHLE left no impact on me.They are the same old run-of-the mill kind of songs.
AYE DIL-DIL KI DUNIYA sung by K.K and Sneha Pant is a very boring song with some mediocre lyrics by Anand Bakshi.
So on the whole a disappointing album and if you wanna buy this album just dont expect much out of it or you are sure to be disappointed like me.
