Yahoo mails India version has address guard! The address guard is nothing but disposable email ids for a single yahoo id.
Usually we have one email id. This is the same id which we will be giving to friends, family, banks, and for online transaction. In the initial period, we will find no spams, but soon spasms start pouring in. They just double after a few months and go increase. If you use bulk mail box, the result is that some important mails might go into the junk box. All the while you wonder who must have given your email id to spammers?
Your only solution is to change your email id. Now if you have a list of 500 email addresses in your mailing list, every time you change your id, you will have to copy it, transfer other important data/mails, plus the worst part inform all those 500 odd people that your email id is changed. Usually people do not have time to note down your new email id or rather delete your old id, the result is half your email will still go to your old id and then you have to keep running two email ids and within a few days you find your new email id was not noted by your friend, but the spammer has got it before your friend changed!! The result two mail boxes with double junk and 100s and 1000s of minutes wasted going through mails just to remove the junk!!
Yahoo’s India version has Address Guard. The idea is simple. You can have one main yahoo id! To that id you have multiple emails ids or alias. For example if your original email was email@yahoo.com, you can have many ids like...............
mymail-office@yahoo.com or mymail-bank@yahoo.com or mymail-friend@yahoo.com
all reaching your same mail box.
What is the advantage?
you use mymail-office@yahoo.com for office purpose, mymail-bank@yahoo.com for banking purpose, mymail-friend@yahoo.com for giving it to your friends, mymail-online@yahoo.com for online transcations. Now you do not have to open multiple mailboxes, but open just one mailbox. Next advantage is you know exactly who is sending you the spam. For eg, if you start getting spams from email address......
mymail-banks@yahoo.com you know your bank has been busy selling your email address..... or if it is just a single purchase online email id, you just delete that single email id.
When you delete one particular useless email id, your important office id, personal id, or other ids are safe and you need not send your changed email id every now and then. All the old email/data in your mail box need not be transferred. No time wasting for searching for your single useful mail out of 1000 junk mails.
