It has good looks, good mileage..heck, its good for everything.
A piece of advice here; if you own it, keep it. DO NOT SELL the bike.
None of the bikes really matches up to this one on all fronts. Yes, even mileage. Please do not compare a four-stroke bike to this in terms of mileage. This is a 2-stroke work horse, a regal glory.
I am one of the lucky guys who bought this bike in June 2000 and its still running on a standard bore with an imported crank and an imported RX-K Malaysian 5-Speed Ultra-Close Ratio Gearbox. Yeah, I bought the bike just 1 month before Escorts released the 5-Speed version and I paid an hefty sum of Rs. 54, 000 then + around 5, 500 for the gearbox.
I even put on a 90/100 lighting kit to throw off some of those truck/car drivers who just dont know how to dip headlights.
I am getting a mileage of approx 32 to 35 KMPL after all the internal modifications. Its 2mm Ported too. If you can really afford the mileage of 35 to 40 KMPL at todays fuel prices, go for this bike. Its gonna serve you long and its gonna turns faces after another 10 years. Believe me.
If you use the bike without any modifications, you can expect a decent mileage of at least 50 KMPL. Now, compare this to a four-stroke which gives on an average 65 KMPL. You are getting a flying horse and that superb mileage.
I had an RX-100, 1986 Model with a Standard Bore. I had to sell it of because of financial reasons. That was a real masterpiece. Original Japanese Technology and the works. I sold it to a guy who used it for a few years and now I dont know who owns that bike. I even tried to purchase that bike again from the person whom I sold it to at an exorbitant price then (sometime in 1998-99). Whoever owns it is real lucky.
Hats off to Escorts India for manufacturing and releasing such a bike. It will be remembered through out.
