I am updating the review after about 3 years, coz I am facing really tough situation due to spares. I broke my mud-guard in an accident but since last 5 months after every effort I am unable to get a mudguard for my bike. The bike has been performing fine for the past 3 years, except that the mileage has dropped by a little (just under 50). The only serious problem is the availability of genuine yamaha parts. Many of the yamaha parts I purchased havent been performing good and seem to be fake (my guess). In addition, even the availability has become a problem and I am roaming around with broken mud-guard. In fact, I have now planned to sell my bike and go for a Bajaj bike, where service is cheaper and parts are available at decent price.
I would still recommend the product but be aware of the spare parts issue. Best of luck for all of you who are choosing a Yamaha bike !!

This is the bike due to which I came across MouthShut and became a member of it. So I was looking for Yamaha Fazer reviews on the net and I hit MouthShut. I found this site a huge base of product reviews where you can rate and write reviews other than just reading it.
I read a lot of reviews on MouthShut and finally decided to purchase Yamaha Fazer, the get going bike. Though there were mixed opinions on the bikes I zeroed down to Fazer and Wind 125 (as I was looking for a 125cc bike). Finally I went with Fazer as I am always attracted to things which are unique and catches attention. I fell in love with its superb curvy body and its dual headlight.
I had been thinking of writing a review on this bike since I bought it but waited till I completed 2500 kms so that I can comment on the pick-up and mileage (a deciding factor). After second service now I am completely satisfied with the bike and here is my review ...

The first thing which will appeal you is the look of this bike, its very catchy with its dual headlamp ... either you will like it or dislike it ... but one thing is sure you will the centre of attraction wherever you go or when you zoom out of the daily traffic with its awesome pick-up and a power of 10.8 bhp. I have been driving it for about four months and have felt it very comfortable. The riding position is very comfortable due to its raised handle which ensures that your back is straight.
The streamlined body ensures that it gives minimum drag to the air with your legs are comfortably aligned with its streamlined body. Its dual headlight gives a powerful beam to drive in the night condition. It is also equipped with a flash light very useful in overtaking on the highways. One of the very cool feature is the indicator lamps. The indicator lamps are fitted with the rear tail light and do not project out of the body. The air scoops in the front allows the flow of air over the engine and prevents overheating. This means you can drive it at high speeds for long duration without any harm to the engine. The extra large (largest in the segment) brakes give good braking and hence a good control over the bike.
As far as my experience is concerned this is the best bike I have driven so far. The acceleration is too good and overtaking traffic looks too simple with this machine. Though I try not to accelerate too much but I have driven it at 100kph and at this speed also the bike is very stable. Apart from all this the critical issue in deciding is the mileage. My bike is giving me an average of 55-62 kpl driving at a speed of 50-60 kph which I think is pretty decent with such power.
Many people will try to compare it with Victor or so for their mileage but just look at the power they deliver ... some 7.5 bhp or so ... as compared to its 10.8 bhp.. I think these two factors will be enough to decide on a bike.
This bike is available in some regular colours like black, red, dark blue ...( mine is red :-). ) ... and for some sporty junta(people) Yamaha has launched some limited version of Fazer having some vibrant colours and some curvy designs on the body looking really awesome.
BTW gear pattern of this bike is different from that of the popular bike Hero Honda but I think that should not be problem.
The only place where this bike may be defeated is mileage (company claims 56kpl.)... but you wont mind it if you like to have the Fazer experience, zooming on the streets and getting everyones attention. So finally I would recommend this bike. Happy riding !
