A friend of mine recently bought a brand new 2017 FZ 250. Being the owner of the FZ16, I was very much interested in checking out the new bike. Yamaha as a company makes some of the best motorcycles in the world and the reliability of their machines is something that has given the company a good name in the Indian market. I was a bit nervous about how the bike would feel, being a Yamaha fan you certainly do have a lot of expectations. Well, after riding the motorcycle for quite a few miles, the first impressions are rather positive. The looks of the bike retain the muscular charm of the old bike, yet it looks very stylish and well built. You start the bike and it greets you with a surprising brawny exhaust note, which is a pleasant surprise. I will not go into technical details, you can go on Youtube and check a few videos out there. The bike is surprisingly fast. Yamahas are generally known for their high reving tall geared motorcycles but this one has a different character. It felt fast, agile, and handling was really great even in heavy traffic. The new LED headlamps with DRLs are quite amazing and provide proper visibility at night. The bike is quite comfortable although the suspension is a little stiff which will make commuting, not that much of a pleasant affair. The bike has a decent mileage of 25-28 km/l in the city, which obviously depends on how crazy your wrist is. But with crazy good looks, a muscular stance and an on-road price of just 1.51 lks(Chennai), Yamaha have knocked it out of the park on this one. It really if a proper upgrade and if you are planning to buy a new bike this year, I would seriously recommend you to bring this beauty home with you.
