There is no production bike in India as stylish and naked as this bike. There is no head light dome c visor common in all commuter bikes. There is a large trapezoidal head light neatly tucked under the speedo console.
You get a feeling as though the head light assembly has been removed when you ride the bike, coz the only thing visible is the speedo console and nothing else when looking down while riding the bike. Entire speedo console is digital comprising of tachometer, odometer, tripmeter fuel gauge etc.
Looks belie the features.
Bike looks big , Tank appears Huge but is indeed much smaller.(tank capacity is only 12 litres, even lesser than the Gladiator 125cc)
This is coz, of the huge plastic panels screwed all around the tank to give an aerodynamic shape , to accommodate knee recess etc. Tank is steeply raised, vis a vis the seat. These panels and the front mudguard are available in different colors , hence you can change the color of the bike by changing these panels.
Keeping the tank design in mind the silencer has been modified to give a thick and stocky look.Black & metallic color fiber panels have been screwed on to the main silencer body to merge with silver black tone of the bike frame.
A fibre "intake manifold" has been added more for aesthetics rather than function in front of the 153cc cylinder to direct airflow to the cylinder fins.Front fork tubes look solid and have been re modified to suit Indian roads.
The seat is designed to give an upright posture and to give the feel of a race bike ;
you need to crouch on handle bars a bit to ride comfortably.Probably aged persons may not be comfortable with this posture.
Engine and ride quality.
The engine is very responsive , has a nice subdued throaty exhaust. The engine power belies the massive frame, it feels like the Pulsar 150cc.However the gear shift , clutch all are much more smoother and silky.
Throttle is very responsive.Gearing is very smooth and there is gradual power transition.
Bike is well balanced and handles extremely well in city traffic. The huge disc brakes are very responsive.Suspension is very comfortable and dampens potholes well.
Rear Suspension is mono shock like Honda unicorn.
The foot rests (front & rear)are of dye cast alloy and click into place smoothly
when folded/unfolded.
I guess the FZ16 may be truly a "fill it shut it and forget it " bike.Of course you gotta forget
great mileage too (40-45kmpl)
The front and rear tyres are TUBELESS AND NEED NO MAINTENANCE.The tyres are as
wide as a car tyre.No more guilt pangs for not having checked the tyre pressure and inflating.
Definitely Worth a Buy if you are looking for Style coupled c Performance.
Can be a very good commuter bike.
FZ15 is UNIQUE c MEATY LOOK & beats its competitors thumbs down viz Pulsar, CBZ, Unicorn , Apache etc.Probably Honda Hunk may be somewhere near. On road cost Rs73000/
