I am a serious bike lover and I often do research with the upcoming new bikes both in india and abroad.
I own RX135 and my friends have different bikes we often race in Hills station and that’s our weekend hobby. My friends do own FZ16 and R15. This is my personal view and experience which will help readers while selecting bikes for thier long usage.
1) Bike manufactures study the market analysis based on various factors such as Road condition, buyers, buyers expectation in that country, cost of fuel.. basically psychology of bike lovers. When they design the bike, they come use these market factors and go for the power/design etc.
2) R15 is purely designed for Teens/Young bike lovers who cannot opt for any other bike because of the Style, Power etc. So Yamaha have introduced a bike in that segment to attract Teens. Teens will bug thier parents to buy this sports bike without thinking of anything.. that’s a young blood and it should act that way..
3) FZ16 is for bit more matured guys but surely not for who have children or a traditional family female (famale doesn’t use pillion putting the right leg on the other side). While designing this bike, the Yamaha engineers clearly identified segment of people who might use this bike. coz little more matured guys will think twice when it comes to Price and fuel economy. Hence this bike is not equipped with Liquid Cool (high in cost) and Disk brakes. Wherever possible, they reduced the features to keep the price low.
Those who want to buy bikes have to think what is thier first expectation.. then list down and make and model of the bikes and get reviews and buy the bike after test drive. coz everyone will have thier own taste.
FZ16 is clearly not for family with children. It’s a street bike and those who are having a Car and want to avoid traffic and to save some money on fuel, they can opt for this street bike just because of Yamaha’s Reliability.. No matter how many models comes in India by Bajaj/TVS/Hero Honda... Japanese/German/Italian manufactures will always have thier own secret which cannot be reproduced by indian engineers. They have been proving by providing various models of Cars and Bikes in each and every part of the world.
In a nutsheel, just think what fits for your needs and go select the bike based on the Make by giving first priority in the order of Yamaha/Honda/Bajaj/TVS.
