2 Weeks - 750 KMs...3500 KMs Update

Used the Yamaha Gladiator RS 125 CC 11 BHP for about 2 weeks. Most use was within City and it was an excellent experience. The first gear is very very short, need to change to 2nd ASAP. But.

Once in second you can manage almost all slow traffic situations. 3rd and 4th are standard and once after 40 switch to 5th for a smooth ride to whatever speed you can handle. when u open up the throttle, the pulsars and HH seem to fade away far behind. being light at 125 CC and 11 BHP gives a very good.

Power to weight ratio.More on this nice bike later, once I reach 1500 KMs and mebbe take a longish tour. Finally, regarding the service. Both the purchase and servicing was a very very good experience. The service center has a AC lounge and if you want to see your bike being serviced, you are allowed access to every part of the service center.

3500 Kilometers Update.

Well.. the clutch does seem to be having excessive play every 400-500 KMs. No matter how many times you tighten it, the play creeps in.Regarding the engine, when the clutch is firm, it is silky smooth till 70-75 KMPH. After that a slight vibration starts up in the foot-rest area.

Throttle response is indeed very good. And the Short Gears I spoke about earlier, YES, it is right between 2 and 3, all situations handled like a dream. Just takes a little time to get used to.Have not checked the mileage yet, but I am sure it is in the range of upper 50 KMPL.Lights are BAD!!!! I am planing to upgrade the bulb to 60/75 (or similar) H4s. The 35/35 Halogens are good, but the reflector is where the issue lies.

The road grip and brakes are EXCELLENT!! The other night on the Chedda nagar - Mankhurd link road (to Vashi) I was doing a cool 75 KMPH and this idiot disguised as a human being just walked into the concrete road. My right hand and right foot went onto action before I could reach a decision. Being on a curve the Bike skidded, but did not lose balance.

It actually skidded sideways and moved away from the idiot. All I had to do was turn the handle into the skid direction, release the brakes and twist the throttle .. and zoom away. No! it was way beneath me to try to teach that moron a lesson. Easy to write and read about it, but with the cars following me at equal speeds, the bikes composure was indeed a life saver.

Only if the front lights were better, it would be the perfect 125 CC Range Bike.Handling is also neat. I usually take 85 Degrees moderately elaborate curves at 60-65 KmPh with ease, and I am just a moderate rider. The Bandra reclaimation flyover curve (when u come from Kala Nagar area towards SV Road) was clocked at 75 KmPh.. but tat was only on one highly "inspired" occasion! This May I am planning on a tour when wife is away. Am expecting it to be a good tour bike too....mebbe a tad slow on the highways.
