First of all, I wanted to thank Mouthshut for its reviews. I own a 98 model suzuki samurai no problem bike and wanted to go for a change. MS had helped me to narrow my search to Yamaha Gladiator SS125CC. I am from Chennai and got my gladi SS Black n Red model from M/s Ambal motors last week. We have only three dealers in Chennai and I visited all the dealers n negotiated. The other two dealers; one in jafferkhanpet and the other in Annasalai told Rs54000+ onroad with no reduction in price. But Mr. Parameswaran from Ambal motors in Poonamalle road, Opp Dasprakash Hotel, Near Chennai Egmore, phone no: 42174773, 42042996 was very kind enough to give me the bike for direct cash purchase of Rs. 52, 000/- on road, with a free crash bar, tank cover, buzzer and saree guard foot rest. He got a beautiful showroom with responsible staff to respond immediately as u enter the awesome showroom.
I didnt like the helf length lever for gear shift. I requested the dealer and he helped me by replacing me a complete length gear shift lever to face the traffic in Chennai where freqent gear shift is required. I rode some 50km mantaining 40kmph which was bit boring for me but i was asked to maintain 40kmph uptill the first service. Gladi is an eyecatcher and many people were just glancing at it at signals and even followed my bike to observe its features n made me a proud owner. Only tomorrow I can perform the pooja and use my bike to the fullest extent and give a complete review for its performance. The pickup is good (but I cant compare it with samurais pick up as it is a two stroke bike) and there is minimum sound from the engine. Braking is very efficient. Initially I faced little wrist pain in both the hands, may be I need to get used to the handle. Sitting n handling is comfortable. The rear indicators are embedded so nicely into the main body n I neednt bother about they getting damaged. The bike starts with one kick. It got an electric start and a disk brake. This is a 125CC bike but it just looks equally to a 150CC bike.
So guys, dont look back for anything, just purchase this bike with out a second thought and u shall enjoy your ride.
Yamaha should change the horn as it is very feeble of its kind. This horn should be like Bajaj pulsar type at the least. Yamaha should increase its dealer network in Chennai and advertising should be improved. It can have holdings n boardings at important places showing their bikes.
No other 125CC bike of other manufacturers are giving at this competitive price and features. Enjoy friends, I shall get back to you after a month with more feed back.
