Its the 5th month of my ownership of R15 and I have done about 5500km till date.
INITIAL IMPRESSION : Not at all impressive.Actually I thought of selling this one in the very first week .Frankly speaking I bought this one purely on the basis of spec.sheet and technology it offered(as no test ride was offered).Initial pick up and smoothness was not at all satisfactory considering the price and specs of the bike.Handling and brakes impressed me from day one though.
AFTER FIRST SERVICE: Surprisingly the engine started behaving much better than initially it had did.And I learnt to toy with the butter smooth gears and their application at the right way.In fact it takes some time to get to know with the way the gears should be changed (with speed and rpm)in R15 (My previous two bikes were P180 & RTR).
AND NOW:One should ride this one twice to feel difference between a new one and a 5000 km old one.I don’t know why, but the engine response has drastically changed in this 5000 km.I was greatly impressed by it’s super nimble handling, super brakes and stability in high speeds and now I can say the same thing about the engine also.It has become much more responsive.Amazing bike!Ride is pretty good.Ride it over a bad patch of raod and you will know how good it’s shocker setup is.
I achieved a speedo indicative top speed of 137 kmph.It gives me 40-45 kmpl depending upon the riding condition.
SHOULD YOU BUY ONE? : YES.Buy this one only if you love biking from the core of your heart and not anything else.A near perfect mix of performance, handling and braking.
EVERYTHING IS NOT GOOD : Horn does not comply with the racy character of the bike (but the single horn is powerful).Radiator developed a leakage and was replaced under warranty.Will burn your pocket if you have to replace it of your own.Rs.5760!Fit and finish should have been better , more so because of the price tag.A little noisy while idling.
OVERALL : A great bike with real pleasure of biking.It definitely in some occassions will save your life but you wo’nt even know that..All the credits go to it’s superb brakes and handling and stability.
Ofcourse it’s not perfect in every aspect and even the MOON has black spots on it.
There is always scope for improvement and expect YAMAHA to do that.
